Good topic, poor implementation

Cognitive-constructivist therapy for children and adolescents is an important topic, and an effective book on this subject would make a significant contribution to the field. Unfortunately, this is not that book. It is superficial and seems to have been written hurriedly. There are few references, and many of them are other works by the author, which she cites over and over. Much of the writing consists of obvious truisms and platitudes with which no one would disagree. There is very little substantive theory or practical suggestions on exactly what to do with kids to conduct effective therapy. The author gives the impression of being an effective therapist herself, but this book fails to articulate exactly how she decides what to do with clients.
